I’ve always been a fan of tattoos. I do think it’s very fascinating to see and hear about people’s tattoos and the stories that they normally have to tell. I will admit that I have some tattoos, that don’t really have a story – I now have a collection of eight tattoos, since I got my first one when I was eighteen. E.g. I have an owl on my wrist, that I don’t have for any special reason except I really liked it.
But two of my tattoos, mean a bit more than the others. And I want to tell you why.
- The flower on my shoulder. First I got the lily on my back, because I thought the flower was so beautiful. Which I still do. A few month later, I got some numbers and leaves added to the flower. I have three numbers: 56, 63 and 40 (and I can’t even count how many times, I’ve been asked if it’s my phone number..) but the numbers are birth years. The birth year of my dad, mom and grandma. The three people that means the world to me, and this is my way of honoring these people.
- Just keep swimming. Speaking of stupid questions, like the phone number, I also often get asked, if I have this tattoo, because I like to swim. No. That is not the reason. Some of you are probably thinking of Dory from Finding Nemo, when she is singing: just keep swimming. And that’s actually where I have the quote from. Although this has nothing to do with swimming, I like the meaning of this saying. No matter how hard things can be, you just need to keep moving on. And this little quote has helped me a lot throughout the years.
These two tattoos, are by far my favorite ones. I do like all of my tattoos and I still don’t have any regrets. To me, a tattoo can tell so many stories and tell a lot about the person who has them. Anders also has a full sleeve on his arm, all in the vikings theme. It’s like it has become more acceptable to have tattoos, where I can remember when I got my first ones, it wasn’t really that popular and people could look at you in a different light, because you were a bit of a bad ass. Where now, I can’t really think of any of my friends, who dosen’t have one or two tattoos.
What about you? Do you have any tattoos and what is the story behind it?
